Genome and metabolome data expansion and added health survey information -jMorp 2025 major update-

    Research: 2025/10/28

We have updated the Japanese Multi Omics Reference Panel (jMorp), incorporating expanded genome and metabolome data. Additionally, we are pleased to announce the first release of statistical data for health survey information (laboratory and physiological tests).

    Update Details
    Genome

We have completed whole-genome analysis of 100,000 individuals from the general Japanese population and released the corresponding statistical data. Quality metrics for each individual are available on the Sample Repository page.

From this dataset, we constructed the 61KJPN, a Japanese whole-genome reference panel, by selecting 61,000 individuals while minimizing kinship bias. In addition, we have released the 61KJPN-HLA and 61KJPN-STR panels, which summarize allele frequencies from HLA and STR analyses using the same samples as those in the 61KJPN-SNV/INDEL panel. (Example; HLA-A, [GRCh38] chr4:3,074,875-CAG)

    Metabolome

    [NMR]
The publicly available dataset now includes approximately 79,000 samples, with five additional metabolites—such as uremic substances—added across all NMR samples. Data from the third survey has also been incorporated, allowing for the tracking of changes over about seven years from the baseline survey across thousands of participants. (Example; [TCN000033] Glycine) Furthermore, for individuals who were pregnant or within one month postpartum at the time of the baseline survey, values from an average of seven years after childbirth have also been plotted. (Example; [TCN000033] Glycine)

    [MS]
Among 9,000 baseline survey samples, about 3,000 were additionally analyzed for 330 lipid-focused metabolites. Combined with previous data, the total reached nearly 900 metabolites. Many key phospholipids are now covered, enabling broader use of the data as a reference panel.

    Clinical Laboratory Tests

We have newly released statistical data derived from health survey information. Specifically, we have made available test results from laboratory and physiological examinations conducted during the baseline survey period of the cohort study (fiscal years 2013 to 2016). The released items were selected based on their relative utility for research, particularly their suitability for integrative analyses with other datasets available on jMorp.

・The data display distributions by sex, as well as by sex and age group in the graph in the “Value Distribution” field. (Example; [TML101130] HbA1c)
・Comparative data are presented between pregnant and postpartum women and age-matched women from the general population in the graph in the “Pregnant Status” field. (Example; [TML101130] HbA1c)
・Integrated viewing of multi-layered information is enabled through links to related data hierarchies, such as GWAS and metabolome analyses. (Example; [TML101130] HbA1c)
