One of the core mission of Tohoku Medical Megabank Project is to develop many kinds of medical experts who provide the skills and knowledge required to support and advance local public health and medicine. It is expected that individualized medicine will be generalized in near future. To promote ToMMo's study toward individualized medicine, diverse specialists will play an important role: Genome Medical Research Coordinators (GMRCs) are responsible for gathering biological specimens and medical information; data managers manage gathered information; certified genetic counselors provide medical genomics information and psychosocial support; bioinformaticians treat genomic information; and science communicators explain new medical services appropriately to the public. Department of Education and Training provides the training facilities for such specialists and would like to facilitate collaborative work of Tohoku Medical Megabank Project among local people.
