On 15th March 2023, five members from the University College London (UCL), including the Vice-Provost (Research, Innovation & Global Engagement) Geraint Rees, visited ToMMo. Tohoku University and UCL have a partnership under an agreement on inter-university academic exchange and cooperation.
The members were taken on a tour of the sequencing facilities, Sendai Community Support Center, Sendai Child Health Square, Biobank, MRI facilities, and the supercomputer. Together with ToMMo’s Executive Director, Masayuki Yamamoto, they discussed the possibilities of collaborative research in the future, with a particular interest in the brain imaging studies conducted in the cohort studies. In the future, we will promote even more active collaborations in the fields of cognitive science and genomic medicine.
