Message to medical practitioners after Typhoon Haiyan in Philippines

    News: 2013/11/13

SENDAI, Nov. 12, 2013 (Immediate Release)-Tohoku Medical Megabank Organization (ToMMo), Tohoku University, Sendai, Japan, are so sorry to know that Philippines has suffered the severe natural disaster by Typhoon Haiyan last Friday.

ToMMo prays for the victims of the typhoon and sincerely hope that the people wounded by the Typhoon will be rescued smoothly. We also hope that all of the local hospitals and medical practitioners in Philippine can get over many challenges after the sudden catastrophic event from nature.

Two year and eight months has passed since the Great East Japan Earthquake on March 11 in 2011. Since February 1st in 2012, ToMMo has been conducting the long-term comprehensive health investigations in the tsunami-affected area.

Tohoku region is surely making a recovery from the earthquake and tsunami, and our experience of medical services after March 11, 2011, has made both Tohoku University and Tohoku Medical Megabank the frontline of disaster medicine.

To share our knowledge and experiences, we could answer any queries both from mass media and medical practitioners all over the world regarding the emergency and follow-up medical practices during the crisis of March 11 earthquake and tsunami.

From other countries (press and medical practitioners), please contact Fuji Nagami, Group of Public Relations, Tohoku Medical Megabank Organization.
