The Nihonbashi Branch was opened in July 2020 as a new office for the Tohoku University Tohoku Medical Megabank Organization (ToMMo) in Tokyo.
The Nihonbashi Branch has conventional branch office functions such as assisting and arranging for ToMMo’s member. Additionally, the most distinctive feature of Nihonbashi Branch is having remote security area. This remote security area has 3 thin client terminals that were connected to the supercomputer, specializing in genome research and installed in the Tohoku Medical Megabank Organization Building in Sendai, via VPN line. It is possible for researchers who are apart from Sendai to make effective use of various analysis information and its computing power stored in the ToMMo supercomputer without visiting Sendai.
We believe that we will continue to deepen industry-academia collaboration by actively utilizing this remote security area and branch office functions.
